1870 Indian Princess Dollar in Silver
    Judd-1015, PR65
    Ex: Eliasberg

1870 $1 Dollar, Judd-1015, Pollock-1149, Low R.7, PR65 PCGS. CAC. Ex: Eliasberg. William Barber's Indian Princess obverse shows Liberty seated, with her left hand resting on a globe and right hand holding a Liberty pole with cap on top. There are two conjoined flags behind, one ornamented with 22 stars. The reverse is the regular-issue Seated dollar design. Struck in silver with a plain edge. This majestic design was struck in silver, copper, and aluminum and each metal has a plain edge and reeded edge variant. In silver and with a plain edge, there are fewer than a dozen examples known. This original pattern has brightly mirrored fields and the devices are surrounded by deeper shades of russet-golden and blue toning. The surfaces are free from obvious contact marks; however, there is a distinctive pair of small planchet flakes out of the upper reverse field below the right end of the scroll.
