    1870 Standard Silver Dime in Aluminum
    Fewer Than Six Known, Judd-859, PR65

    1870 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-859, Pollock-940, High R.7, PR65 PCGS. The obverse design depicts Liberty, facing right, wearing a cap that is ornamented with three stars. The reverse has 10 CENTS in the center, surrounded by an oak and laurel wreath with STANDARD SILVER 1870 at the margin. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. These aluminum Standard Silver dime patterns are significant rarities; fewer than six examples are known. Brilliant surfaces feature reflective fields and few apparent contact marks. A tiny planchet void occurs below the T in STATES.
