    Gem 1870 Standard Silver 10 Cents, Judd-869

1870 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-869, Pollock-965, High R.7, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. The same Standard Silver design that was used in 1869. It shows a bust of Liberty, facing right, wearing a single star on the headband. The reverse has 10 CENTS in the center, surrounded by an oak and laurel wreath with STANDARD SILVER above and the date in the exergue. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. A lovely specimen of this rare pattern. The strike is precise, and the rose-red and aqua toning is attractive. A peripheral carbon fleck or two fails to deny the eye appeal.

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
