    Description

1870 William Barber Seated Dime Pattern
    Judd-832, Struck in Silver, PR63

1870 10C Ten Cents, Judd-832, Pollock-922, Low R.7, PR63 PCGS. A seated figure of Liberty facing left and supporting a shield in her right hand and an olive branch in her left appears on the obverse. A free-standing liberty pole is present behind the shield. The reverse has the same cereal wreath type used to coin regular issue 1870 dimes. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Sets were available of this design in silver, copper, and aluminum with either reeded or plain edges. It is unknown what price the Mint sold these for. This obverse was also combined with the Standard Silver wreath reverse. Reflective fields display trivial signs of contact and are partly covered in mixed shades of dusky blue-green, rose-violet, and golden-russet patina. Certified in a green label holder.
