    1870 Twenty Dollar, PR50
    Regular Dies in Copper, Judd-1038

    1870 $20 Twenty Dollar, Judd-1038, Pollock-1173, High R.7, PR50 ANACS. Dies trial from the regular-issue Liberty Head double eagle dies of the year 1870. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Six or fewer examples of this twenty dollar pattern are believed extant. Razor-sharp devices show slight blending. A couple of rim nicks occur on the obverse at 4 and 9 o'clock, and a pedigree mark is noted near star 4. Flecks of aqua residue appear on each side. The surfaces are toned in golden-brown, blue, green, and violet hues. Housed in a small-sized holder.
