Exceptionally Toned

1870 25C Quarter, Judd-884, Pollock-982, High R.6, PR65 Brown NGC. Liberty is seated left, and supports a shield with her right hand. Her left hand holds an olive branch. The obverse border has 13 stars, and the date is in the exergue. A free-standing Liberty pole is in the background. The reverse is from a regular-issue Liberty Seated quarter dollar die. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This Gem offers splendid apple-green, violet-red, and golden-brown peripheral patina. Well struck and unabraded with minimal carbon. The Teichman roster lists 22 specimens, but cautions "duplication likely."
