    Description

Exemplary 1870 Standard Silver Quarter, Judd-894

1870 25C Standard Silver Quarter Dollar, Judd-894, Pollock-1001, R.5, PR66 NGC. Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty facing right on the obverse. Liberty wears a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the periphery, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll below. The reverse depicts the denomination 25 CENTS and the date 1870 within a wreath of corn and cotton. The word STANDARD is at the top. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. An exquisitely struck and beautifully preserved premium Gem with attractive tan and forest-green toning. Struck from a strongly clashed reverse die; however, the obverse die is not clashed. One possible scenario: the reverse die clashed with a Judd-900 obverse die, which was then removed and replaced with a fresh Judd-894 obverse die. (NGC ID# 29X2, PCGS# 61138)

It goes without saying that after the auction when we had a chance to have dinner together and get to know each other it even made it a better experience for me. I look forward to getting more involved with Heritage in the Future.
