Affordable 1870 Standard Silver Half, Judd-940

1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar--Corroded, Cleaned--Judd-940, Pollock-1053, 1067, R.7 ANACS. Proof, Net PR55. The obverse depicts a bust of Liberty wearing a cap ornamented with two stars and a ribbon across her shoulder that spells out LIBERTY in incuse letters. There are three varieties of this pattern, this one has the tip of Liberty's cap positioned under the final S in STATES and the letters in LIBERTY are incuse. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Noticeably hairlined with evidence of corrosion in the center of the reverse. The otherwise brilliant surfaces are encircled by a thin ring of golden patina over the denticles.
