1870 Standard Silver Half in Aluminum
    Judd-944, PR62

1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-944, Pollock-1058, 1072, High R.7, PR62 NGC. On the obverse, Liberty faces right and wears a cap that is ornamented with two stars, a scroll is below with IN GOD WE TRUST on it, and around most of the periphery is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The curl of Liberty's cap ends between the ES in STATES. On the reverse 50 CENTS 1870 is in the center and is surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn with STANDARD at the top. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. Myriad die polish lines occur throughout brilliant surfaces that show partial contrast and reflectivity. Scattered ticks account for the grade, but the absolute rarity of this offering is what should stand out. Roughly three to five examples probably exist.
