1870 Standard Silver Half, PR63
Judd-951, Silver, Reeded Edge
1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-951, Pollock-1094,
R.5, PR63 NGC. The bust of Liberty faces right on the obverse
with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST
on a scroll below. Liberty's hair is tied in a bun. On the reverse,
the denomination 50 CENTS and date 1870 are in a wreath of cotton
and corn with the inscription STANDARD above. Struck in silver with
a reeded edge. A hint of gold patina adorns this prominently
mirrored and attractive patterns. The strike shows minor softness
at the centers, and a pair of small gray spots are noted near the S
in STANDARD. (NGC ID# 6M58, PCGS# 61197)
