1870 Standard Silver Half in Copper

1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-954, Pollock-1097, High R.7, PR66 Brown NGC. Ex: Lemus Collection. A bust of Liberty faces right wearing a LIBERTY-inscribed diadem, her hair is tightly bound with a ribbon. IN GOD WE TRUST is placed within a scroll below, while UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounds the portrait. The reverse has a wreath of corn and cotton with 50 / CENTS / 1870 inside and STANDARD centered above. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Less than a half-dozen examples of Judd-954 still exist, according to USPatterns.com. Slightly weak on the central devices, as usual. The surfaces display amazing mirrors beneath deep blue and iridescent toning. The reverse is lighter reddish-gold with considerable iridescence.
