    1870 Standard Silver Half, Judd-957, PR40
    Apparent Pocket Piece

    1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-957, Pollock-1108, R.5, PR40 PCGS. A bust of Liberty faces right and is surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. She wears a headband inscribed LIBERTY, and has a large star on her forehead. IN GOD WE TRUST is below on a banner. The reverse features 50/CENTS/1870 within a wreath of cotton and corn. STANDARD is centered above the wreath. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Apparently carried as a pocket piece for years with even rub over the devices. Only minor contact marks are seen. The dull silver-gray surfaces are accented with charcoal-gray around the motifs.
