    1870 Standard Silver Half Struck in Copper
    Judd-960, PR63 Brown, Bright Aqua Color

    1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-960, Pollock-1112, Low R.7, PR63 Brown NGC. Standard Silver design showing Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY in raised letters. The reverse reads 50 CENTS 1870 in the center, surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn. Struck in copper with a plain edge. estimates that less than a dozen survive. The surfaces display bright aqua coloration over each side with a couple of reddish remnants of the original surface still showing around the margins. A short, shallow staple scratch just above the left side of the scroll on the obverse reveals a narrow streak of raw copper.
