Description

1870 $1 Dollar, Judd-1020, Pollock-1155, R.7, PR 50 PCGS. Die trial striking of the regular issue 1870 Seated dollar. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The dies are medallically aligned (180 degrees) from the standard position. Somehow, this specimen either entered circulation or was used as a pocket piece for a short time. The copper-brown surfaces show darker violet accents in the recesses. An affordable example of this exceedingly rare pattern issue.
