    1871 Dollar Pattern in Copper
    Judd-1142, PR64 Brown
    Ex: Bass Collection

1871 $1 Standard Silver Dollar, Judd-1142, Pollock-1284, High R.7, PR64 Brown PCGS. Ex: Bass. The obverse features the first Seated Liberty design by Longacre with 22 stars on the flag. There are also 13 stars arranged around the periphery on the obverse. The reverse displays 1 DOLLAR as the central motif, surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn, with STANDARD above. Struck in copper with a plain edge. About five examples of this variety are known, according to USPatterns.com. Nearly a quarter century ago, Andrew W. Pollock, III, reported three distinct examples with the possibility of a fourth known. This piece was said to be the Pollock plate coin, per the Bass catalog, but it does not appear to be an exact match.
