Design. The obverse is the posthumous James B. Longacre Indian Princess design, in a starless field with date in exergue. The reverse shows 10 / CENTS, the latter in an upcurving arc, surrounded by a wreath of corn and cotton, with STANDARD in tiny letters at the upper rim. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.
Commentary. Although they were sold in sets from the half dime through dollar, this particular pattern variety is estimated to have less than a dozen survivors, according to both Judd and USPatterns.com.
Physical Description. Tinges of beautiful blue and purple complement the radiant luster on this wonderful Gem striking. NGC Census: one each in PR65 Brown, PR65 Red and Brown, PR67 Red and Brown. PCGS Population: one each in PR63 Red and Brown, PR64 Red and Brown, and PR64 Brown; three PR65 Brown (11/08). Nine pieces total.
