1871 Standard Silver Dime, Judd-1080, PR651871 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-1080, Pollock-1216, High R.6, PR65 NGC.
Design. The obverse is Longacre's Indian Princess design, here with 13 stars around the rim. On the reverse 10 / CENTS appears, the latter in an upcurving arc, surrounded by a wreath of corn and cotton, with STANDARD in tiny letters at the upper rim. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.
Commentary. Another reuse of the 1870 reverse die on this somewhat available silver variety. Andy Pollock notes that the Lemus Collection example has a die alignment of about 190 degrees, 10 degrees off from normal coin turn.
Physical Description. The mirrored fields flash strongly through the deep rose and peripheral blue toning. Fully struck throughout. NGC Census: 3 in PR65, 1 finer. PCGS Population: 1 in PR65, none finer (12/08).
