1871 Five Cent With Modified Three Cent Design
    Judd-1050, PR64

1871 5C Five Cents, Judd-1050, Pollock-1184, Low R.6, PR64 NGC. The obverse bears a portrait of Liberty similar to that used on the nickel three cent piece. The date is below and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is above the central device. The reverse depicts a reversed Roman numeral five and the word CENTS is within a wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. The Judd-1050 is one of the more obtainable five cent patterns and it is also available in copper and aluminum. The fields are moderately bright for a nickel product, and the otherwise brilliant-gray surfaces show just a bit of pale reddish patina. (NGC ID# 2A2L, PCGS# 61309)
