1871 Indian Princess Half Dime, Judd-1069
    Copper, PR65 Brown

1871 H10C Half Dime, Judd-1069, Pollock-1205, Low R.7, PR65 Brown PCGS. James Longacre's "Indian Princess" design features Liberty facing left, wearing an Indian headdress. Her right hand supports a pole topped by a Liberty Cap, and her left hand rests on a globe that is inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags behind Liberty are draped down behind the globe. The field has 13 stars around with the date below. The reverse is from the regular production half dime die that was first introduced in 1860. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is one of an estimated six examples extant. Fully struck with deep mahogany-brown color, this Gem exhibit added tinges of mint-green, rose, and powder-blue.
