Brown NGC. James Longacre's "Indian Princess" design features
Liberty facing left, wearing an Indian headdress. Her right hand
supports a pole topped by a Liberty Cap, and her left hand rests on
a globe that is inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags behind Liberty are
draped down behind the globe. The field has 13 stars around with
the date below. The reverse is from the regular production half
dime die that was first introduced in 1860. Struck in copper with a
reeded edge. Probably around a half dozen are known in copper. The
surfaces are covered with deep teal toning which is highlighted by
the deeply reflective fields on each side. An immaculate
pattern.Ex: The Buxton Collection / FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2022), lot 4274.
