1873 Aluminum Quarter Eagle Die Trial, Judd-1334

1873 $2 1/2 Quarter Eagle, Judd-1334, Pollock-1478, High R.7, PR65 Cameo NGC. Regular die trials issue of the quarter eagle. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. While traditionally classed as a die trial, these pieces were more likely struck for the collector market. This is a splendid piece of aluminum coinage. No traces of oxidation are present, and there is just the slightest haziness on each side. The devices are heavily frosted and present a strong cameo contrast against the unfathomable depth of reflectivity seen in the fields.
