Description

Lightly Circulated Proof Judd-1310 Trade Dollar Pattern

1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1310, Pollock-1453, R.4, PR53 NGC. This lightly circulated Trade dollar pattern was struck in the year that the regular issue Trade dollars debuted. On the obverse, a figure of Liberty reminiscent of some of the Britannia designs wears an Indian headdress, with Liberty pole and cap in her right hand. Her left hand rests on a globe with LIBERTY crossing the equator. Two flagpoles are behind her. The reverse offers a small eagle in the upper half, with 120 GRAINS / 900 FINE below, and the statutory legends on scrolls both above and below. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TRADE DOLLAR encircle the rim. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. A light haze of grayish-silver coats each side, with an iridescent center on the reverse. Slight highpoint rub shows on each side. (NGC ID# 2A8R, PCGS# 61596)
