    Description

Gem 1873 Trade Dollar Pattern, Judd-1317

1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1317, Pollock-1460, R.7, PR65 Brown NGC. A Seated Liberty design for the Trade dollar by Bailly, with Liberty's left hand resting on a globe and her right hand clutching a pole with a Phrygian cap atop. Surrounding her are bales of cotton and a tobacco plant. The reverse has a small eagle in the center with most of the statutory requirements placed on that side. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This boldly struck Gem has lovely chocolate-brown surfaces that reveal iridescent electric-blue, ruby-red, and orange-tan colors when the piece is rotated under a light. An impressive representative of this rarely encountered pattern, the finest of only four examples certified by NGC.(#61603)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2A8X, PCGS# 61603)
