    1875 Double Eagle in Copper
    Judd-1448, PR63 Brown

1875 $20 Twenty Dollar, Judd-1448, Pollock-1593, High R.7, PR63 Brown PCGS. Regular dies trial strike of the 1875 double eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Also struck in aluminum, and slightly scarcer as such, but in copper only four or five examples are known. This deeply toned, purple-brown example reveals a few isolated areas of reddish patina here and there. We can find no sizeable distractions, but the surfaces are a bit too subdued to warrant a higher grade. A sharply defined example. There are several small chips out of this die on Liberty's cheek and neck.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2002), lot 7294.
