1875 Twenty Cent Pattern in Silver
    Judd-1399, AU50

1875 20C Twenty Cents, Judd-1399, Pollock-1542, Low R.6, AU50 PCGS. The popular "Liberty at the Seashore" obverse design with an arc of 13 stars above and the date below. Liberty is seated facing left and holds an olive branch in her right hand and rests her left hand on a globe with the word LIBERTY inscribed. A sidewheeler is seen in the distance, and behind Liberty a wheat sheaf and two flags can be seen. The reverse is similar to the design used for regular coinage, except for minor leaf position changes. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Examples are also known in copper, aluminum, and nickel. About a dozen silver pieces, such as this one, are known today. The surfaces are mostly untoned and show even wear over the high points with numerous small to medium abrasions scattered over each side.
