1876 'Sailor Head' Dollar in Copper
    Judd-1460, PR62 Red and Brown

1876 $1 Sailor Head Dollar, Judd-1460, Pollock-1610, R.7, PR62 Red and Brown NGC. The Sailor Head design is set in a plain field with IN GOD WE TRUST and the date both below the bust. LIBERTY appears on a coronet in Liberty's hair. The reverse has ONE DOLLAR within a wreath with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at the top border and E PLURIBUS UNUM at the bottom border. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This pattern was struck in silver (two pieces known) and copper (eight known). This it the #8 coin listed on the roster of known examples and is known only as the Ex: Kentucky Collection piece. The fields on this example are surprisingly bright with equally bright red and blue color over each side. We do not see any obvious pedigree identifiers on either side.
