Select 1876 Eagle Struck in Copper, Judd-1486

1876 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-1486, Pollock-1639, R.7, PR63 Red and Brown PCGS. Struck with regular issue Eagle dies, but in copper with a reeded edge. Such pieces are often referred to as die trials strikings, but Judd-1486 was more likely struck for sale to select dealers or collectors, as part of a denominational off-metal set. The deep golden-brown surfaces reveal mauve, olive, and navy-blue colors when rotated under a light. A well struck and carefully preserved specimen.(#71808)
