Description

1879 Metric Dollar, Judd-1617, Proof

1879 $1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1617, Pollock-1813, R.4--Improperly Cleaned--NGC. Proof. This William Barber design features a bust left of Liberty on the obverse. She wears a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. The reveres displays an agricultural wreath and the uncommon motto DEO EST GLORIA within a scrollwork. The cumbersome goloid alloy is listed within a beaded circle. Struck in goloid with a reeded edge. Light hairlines are evident, now with pale gold and lavender toning. Still, a sharply struck and pleasing example.
