    1879 Metric Dollar, Judd-1617
    Proof With Obverse Planchet Flaw

1879 $1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1617, Pollock-1813, R.4 -- Obverse Planchet Flaw -- NGC Details. Proof. William Barber's Metric dollar with Liberty wearing a coronet with a border of pearls. The reverse is elaborately laid out with a partial wreath of cotton and corn tied at the base, a ribbon, and with DEO EST GLORIA on a tablet above. Struck in goloid or silver with a reeded edge. The noted planchet flaw appears as a partially peeled-back lamination between stars 5 and 6, although a loupe also reveals rather extensive hairlines and small contact marks in the fields and on the devices. The surfaces are bright and reflective with little trace of color but good contrast.
