    Red Gem 1879 Morgan Dollar Pattern, Judd-1612

    1879 $1 Morgan Dollar, Judd-1612, Pollock-1808, Low R.7, PR65 Red PCGS. Ex: HW Bass Jr. A regular Morgan dollar obverse is paired with a pattern reverse featuring a large perched eagle with unfurled wings, clutching an olive branch and three arrows. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. A razor-sharp orange-red Gem with minor aqua-blue peripheral toning and splendid preservation. Population: 2 in 65 Red, 1 finer (4/07).
    Ex: Brinton T. Schorer, 5/73; Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection, Part One (Bowers and Merena, 5/99), lot 1291, which sold for $6,325.
