Premium Gem 1879 Morgan Half Dollar, Judd-1601

1879 50C Morgan Half Dollar, Judd-1601, Pollock-1796, High R.6, PR66 PCGS. The obverse is essentially identical to the issued Morgan Dollar, although reduced in scale for the Half Dollar denomination. The reverse features an eagle with spread and lowered wings, clutching the traditional olive sprig and arrows with its talons. Peripheral statutory legends frame the central motif. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The design is similar to Judd-1599 aside from the arrangement of the stars and E PLURIBUS UNUM across the obverse border. Electric-blue, sea-green, and peach-mauve colors bathe this magnificently preserved premium Gem. The centers are typically struck, while all other design elements are bold. Population: 7 in 66, 2 finer (3/04). (#61979)
