Description

1879 One Dollar in Copper, Judd-1616

1879 One Dollar, Judd-1616, Pollock-1812, R.6-7, PR 65 Red and Brown NGC. The obverse depicts the regular dies design for the Morgan dollar, while the reverse features an eagle with spread wings holding an olive branch in its right talon and three long arrows in his left. Above is the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. ONE DOLLAR is below. An interesting combination of a double usage of E PLURIBUS UNUM on both sides. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Both sides exhibit a deep orange-brown appearance with richly delineated features. While light discoloration is noted on Liberty's cheek, the surfaces are smooth and quite comfortable with the Gem grade assessment.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2AH7, PCGS# 71994, GSID# 14885)
