    Description

Pleasing Yet Low Grade 1880 Metric Dollar, Judd-1645

1880 $1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1645, Pollock-1845, R.6, PR61 NGC. Metric Dollar pattern designed by William Barber, featuring the head of Liberty facing left with a prominent coronet inscribed LIBERTY. The design is similar to that featured on pattern Half Unions coined in 1877. The reverse is the standard Metric Dollar design with DEO EST GLORIA featured prominently above the composition in the center. Struck in silver (metric alloy) with a reeded edge. The surfaces are brilliant throughout with a small patch of haziness on each side. Fully and intricately detailed with no large contact marks, just light hairlines that account for the grade.
    Ex: Public Auction (Stack's, 12/87), lot 1034. (NGC ID# 2AJ3, PCGS# 62030)
