Metric Dollar Pattern of 1880, Judd-1645, Pollock-1845

1880 $1 Metric Dollar, Judd-1645, Pollock-1845, R.6, PR 65 NGC. Metric dollar pattern designed by William Barber, featuring the head of Liberty facing left with a prominent coronet inscribed LIBERTY. The design is similar to that featured on pattern half unions coined in 1877. The reverse is the standard Metric dollar design with DEO EST GLORIA featured prominently above the composition in the center. Struck in silver (metric alloy) with a reeded edge. Lightly toned in milky-gold shades, the smartly impressed features rise powerfully above the deep, watery fields. With nary a hairline or contact mark to report, this in an attractive Gem representative.
