"Shield Earring" Half Dollar Struck in Copper, Judd-1701

1882 50C Shield Earring Half Dollar, Judd-1701, Pollock-1903, R.7, PR65 Brown PCGS. George Morgan's popular design features Liberty wearing a broad band holding her hair tightly to her head. The reverse shows a defiant eagle with raised wings. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is one of Morgan's most popular pattern designs and is one highly sought after by pattern collectors. This is the second finest copper striking known of the Half Dollar. The surfaces are glossy and brown with an accent of deep blue around the peripheries and devices.
