    Aluminum 1896 Cent Pattern
    Judd-1769, PR63

    1896 1C One Cent, Judd-1769, Pollock-1985, High R.6, PR63 PCGS. The obverse displays a shield with 13 stripes, having the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM above and the date 1896 below. There are 13 stars at the border arranged seven left and six right, and the border is beaded. On the reverse, the denomination 1 CENT is centered within a curved olive sprig, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding both. The reverse also has a beaded border. Struck in an aluminum alloy with a plain edge. Medium steel-gray toning visits this satiny and precisely struck specimen. The surfaces are mildly subdued but the sole contact mark is a minor tick on the upper right portion of the shield. (NGC ID# 3AVL, PCGS# 62223)
