1896 5C Five Cents, Judd-1771, Pollock-1986, Low R.6, PR65 NGC. Ex: Bass/ANA Museum Display. Charles Barber's Liberty Shield design features a shield at the center obverse with LIBERTY incused. Crossed poles behind support a Liberty cap and a tiny eagle. E PLURIBUS UNUM is at the top rim, with stars squeezed in seven left, six right. On the reverse a large 5 occupies the center with a small CENTS arcing below, an open olive sprig surrounding, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at the rim.
