Interesting 1976-1978 Gould, Inc. Pattern Dollar Token, Pollock-5425

1976-1978 Gould Token, Pollock-5425, R.7(?), MS 66 ANACS. The firm of Gould, Inc. struck this pattern in the mid-1970s as part of the Mint's experimental plans to coin small-size dollars to replace the unpopular Eisenhower dollar. The obverse displays an undraped bust of Washington with the top of the Washington monument to the viewer's left. The inscription GOULD, INC. and the word TITANIUM adorn the upper periphery while a corporate logo can be found below the bust. The reverse bears a copy of the Great Seal of the United States with a circle of pellets around the constellation above the eagle's head. Struck in titanium with a plain edge. The dove-gray surfaces exhibit a somewhat granular appearance, but both sides are mark-free and indicative of the MS 66 grade level. Slightly reflective about the central devices.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2APG, PCGS# 62400)
