PCGS Indian Cent, Judd-212, R.5, PR 65. The obverse design as adopted in 1859 is paired with a reverse that displays ONE CENT in the center surrounded by an oak wreath and broad, ornamented shield at the top. The bust point is rounded and has no L as on regular issue 1859-64 cents. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This is an exciting transitional pattern leading to the adopted design for the Indian Head and Small Shield coinage of 1860-1908. The fields are exceptionally deep in their mirror-like reflectivity and the surfaces overall show only the slightest flyspecking and there is a tiny planchet flake out of the reverse field above the E in ONE. Pleasing reddish-golden color.
