1921 Peace Dollar, Gorgeous MS67
Registry Set Essential, First-Year Type

1921 $1 MS67 PCGS Secure. VAM-1H. Ex: MBJ. This is a coin of immense importance not only to specialists in the Peace dollar series in particular but to type collectors as well, one of only seven Superb Gem examples of the 1921 Peace dollar certified at PCGS with none finer. But the technical and aesthetic aspects of this incredible Peace dollar are every bit the equal to its numeric grade. Both the profile of Liberty on the obverse and the eagle on the reverse are outlined in beautiful rings of patina -- silver in the centers of each side, mostly light golden-orange on the reverse with tinges of moss-green on the lower portion. The obverse shows a similar ring in a "halo" effect encircling Liberty but deepening to sunset-orange in the rays of Liberty's crown, and again, pale accents of mossy-sage color decorate the lower obverse. The preservation is impeccable throughout, showing no mentionable marks. The strike through Liberty's hair in the center and through the eagle's high points is far sharper than seen on the vast majority of this normally strike-challenged issue. This coin was struck from the VAM-1H dies, which were used to strike Satin proofs as well as business-strikes. This piece (with a nice PCGS TrueView photo accompanying) was in the consignor's Registry Set as we write this, and it is undoubtedly destined to grace another fine Registry Set in the near future. Simply a gorgeous coin. Population: 7 in 67, 0 finer (7/15).
