Description
Premium Gem 1923-D Peace Dollar
1923-D $1 MS66 PCGS. Long overlooked in high grades, the '23-D is one of the great unsung condition rarities in the Peace Dollar series. Only 66 pieces have been so graded by PCGS with none finer (10/05). We have handled just a few MS66 coins over the past decade. One of the characteristics that seems to be common to all the high grade pieces we have seen is an absence of the usually-seen peripheral die cracks. This piece also lacks any trace of these cracks, indicating an early strike from new dies, and the surfaces are lustrous and show no trace of toning. Fully struck also.(#7361) (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 257G, PCGS# 7361, Greysheet# 7901)
