Finest Known 1924-S Dollar, MS 66 NGC

1924-S MS 66 NGC. Over the years, several S-mint Peace dollars have attained a reputation of being nearly "impossible" to locate in fully struck gem condition. The '24-S is one of the foremost examples of this elusiveness. This piece, however, is a rare exception to the rule. The strike is fully brought up, not only on the obverse, but also on the eagle's plumage on the reverse. The surfaces are bright, lustrous, and generally untoned with only a hint of color. This example is currently (8/98) the single finest example thus far certified by NGC, PCGS has also certified a single MS 66.
