Exquisite 1925 Peace Dollar MS67 NGC

1925 $1 MS67 NGC. Over 10 million examples of this date were struck, and today it is considered one of the three most common of all Peace Dollars. That was not always the case, however, for prior to the mid-1950s, this date was considered to be quite scarce, and among the rarest of all P-Mint Peace Dollars. In fact, collectors today might be surprised to learn that, in 1945, the two rarest issues of the Philadelphia Mint were 1923 and 1925. That situation soon changed, as pointed out by Dave Bowers in his Silver Dollar Encyclopedia: "By the mid to late 1950s, the 1925 Peace dollar was so common that specimens were a nuisance for dealers searching for rare dates." This Superb Gem example is an amazing coin, with brilliant and untoned silver surfaces and satiny luster. It is essentially mark-free, save for a few of the most trivial nicks hidden in the devices, and it is also exceptionally well struck. Population data indicates that PCGS and NGC have each graded a single finer example, which we believe represents just one actual coin. Population: 22 in 67, 1 finer (9/05).
