Description
Brilliant Gem 1925-S Peace Dollar
1925-S $1 MS65 NGC. In terms of high grade (MS65 and finer) rarity, the 1925-S compares favorably to the 1928-S. Unlike the 1928-S, however, the 1925-S is not known to either NGC or PCGS in grades above the MS65 level, a fact that confirms the importance of the present example among advanced Peace dollar collectors. This is an untoned, ice-white Gem with fulsome luster that alternates between frosty and satiny textures. When offered in Mint State, this issue is apt to display excessive bagmarks and/or poorly impressed features. The present example, on the other hand, is free from any notable abrasions. The strike is also well above average for an S-mint issue in this series with only a little softness in the centers. A coin with eye appeal to spare. Census: 50 in 65, 0 finer (4/07).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 257M, PCGS# 7366, Greysheet# 7904)
Weight: 26.73 grams
