1925-S Peace Dollar, Key-Date MS65
Tied for Finest at PCGS
Our First With CAC Approval

1925-S $1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1925-S and 1928-S Peace dollars are by far the most elusive S-mint issues in the series in Gem condition. The present example of the 1925-S is a certified Gem PCGS coin with the added bonus of a CAC green sticker, a coin that should see fierce competition at auction. A thin, short scrape appears on Liberty's neck and a small nick atop G(OD), but the cheek is free of all but the most minuscule ticks. Thick, satiny luster complements surfaces that are largely untoned and extremely eye-appealing. A nicely struck example of this key-date Peace dollar, tied for the finest graded at PCGS.

The most recent Gem PCGS examples of this date that we offered were both in our FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2015), lots 6257 and 6258, which realized $16,450 and $24,675, respectively -- and both of which lacked CAC approval. This appears to be the first time we have offered a Gem PCGS-CAC example; expect especially lively bidding. Population: 40 in 65, 0 finer (7/15). CAC reports only seven in this grade with their green approval.
