Description
Gem 1925-S Peace Dollar
None Finer at PCGS
1925-S $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1925-S Peace dollar is a well-known
rarity at the Gem level within the series. Roger Burdette's series
reference, A Guide Book of Peace Dollars, cites it as "a
very poorly struck issue within the series, and along with the
1928-S, is perhaps the most difficult coin to find in high
grades."The present Gem, certified in a green-label holder, boasts superior luster on silver-gray surfaces lightly tinged with amber. The strike, even while showing some weakness on the high points of each side, is still considerably stronger than usually seen. An arcing scrape through the letters TATES OF A on the reverse undoubtedly factored into the grade, although it may be Mint-caused. There is also a tiny edge tick above the A in STATES. Despite these minor drawbacks, this coin appears solidly graded overall, radiating appeal and desirability in equal measure. Population: 36 in 65, 0 finer (3/11).
