Description
1925-S Dollar, Lustrous, Sharply Struck MS65
Key Date in the Better Mint State Grades
1925-S $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1925-S, from a mintage of 1.610
million pieces, is one of the key dates in the Peace dollar series.
This relatively low mintage, along with the issue being one of the
most poorly struck in the series, ensures that the 1925-S is
extremely difficult to locate in the better Mint State grades.
While PCGS and NGC have certified several thousand pieces through
MS64, the two services combined have seen just 100 examples in MS65
and none finer.Vibrant luster exudes from both sides of this Gem offering, each of which exhibits sharply struck design elements, including strong detail in the hair at Liberty's ear. A veneer of soft champagne color is hardly discernible except on the reverse where it is joined traces of orange and ice-blue. Well preserved surfaces confirm the Gem grade. This is an important opportunity for the Peace dollar specialist because a coin of this technical quality and aesthetic appeal may not cross the auction block for some time. Population: 39 in 65, 0 finer (12/13).(Registry values: N4719)
