Description

1928-S Peace Dollar, MS65+
Condition Census Registry Contender

1928-S $1 MS65+ NGC. The 1928-S is one of the two rarest dates in the Peace dollar series in Gem and better grades, rivaled only by the 1925-S. By comparison, the 1928 Philadelphia key is common in this grade, as is the 1934-S. For Registry collectors, the 1928-S is at the top of the list for difficulty of acquisition. This brilliant Gem boasts well-struck motifs and vibrant, softly frosted luster. A tiny mark at the top of Liberty's cheekbone serves as a pedigree marker.

This exemplary coin is the sole MS65 at NGC with a Plus designation. Just four others are Plus-graded at PCGS, and each service lists only a single higher-grade coin (11/25). Thus, this piece is a Condition Census coin, whereas most MS65s are just shy of that status.(Registry values: N4719)
