1928-S Peace Dollar, MS65
A 'Condition Key' to the Series
Important Registry Set Candidate

1928-S $1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. Those assembling a Gem Peace dollar set already know the extreme challenge locating a no-questions 1928-S at the MS65 grade level. Although the 1925-S is slightly rarer in Gem condition, the 1928-S is nipping at its heels. Both San Francisco issues are almost never, ever found any finer. This is an extraordinary 1928-S, with brilliant silver surfaces and a terrific strike for the issue. A fleeting glimpse of faint gold patina vanishes as the coin is viewed at different angles, confirming the original surfaces. Mint luster billows over essentially mark-free surfaces, with each side equal in its claim to nearly unimprovable quality. CAC endorsement is seldom granted at this level for the 1928-S date, although the present coin achieves it with ease. Population: 73 in 65 (4 in 65+), 1 finer. CAC: 12 in 65, 0 finer (5/22).(Registry values: N4719)
