Description

1928-S Peace Dollar, MS65
Only One Coin Finer at PCGS

1928-S $1 MS65 PCGS. Although the 1928 Peace dollar is the low-mintage key date of the series, the 1928-S is a much more significant condition key. In MS65, the San Francisco issue is many times rarer than its Philadelphia counterpart, despite having a mintage that exceeds 1.6 million coins. This piece is frosty and untoned, showing original cartwheel luster. Only a few trivial surface grazes are visible beneath a loupe. Scarce in this grade, the 1928-S Peace dollar is nearly unknown finer, with just two pieces so graded at PCGS and NGC combined. Population: 66 in 65 (3 in 65+), 1 finer (12/18).
